Come and work with us among the international community in Liverpool.
The World Horizons team in Liverpool serves the asylum seeker and refugee community, supporting them through their transition from war zones, persecution and loss, and so helping them overcome barriers into a full and purposeful life. Working alongside a language school, the team help people to integrate more easily into the life of the city. They also host art exhibitions at a community art gallery which features contributors from around the world.
Placements in Liverpool would be particularly suitable for applicants with English teaching/or artistic skills as well as those with an interest in developing their business.
Opportunities
English language teacher or helper
Assist the team in providing high quality language courses with appropriate cultural and real-life application. CELTA training is required for teaching English, but those with native or advanced English skills are welcome to help with conversation classes.

Artist in Residence
Exhibit your artwork and create new pieces at a community art gallery and exhibition space in Toxteth, Liverpool. There is gallery space for both solo and group exhibits. Join the team in hosting cultural events and workshops.

Attend a training course aimed at helping business owners achieve a balance between sustainability, profit, and community support.

Gallery and Cafe Volunteer
Serve at our language school cafe in Liverpool, help organize and take part in coffee and conversation sessions. Experience in coffee-making is an advantage, but not required.

The city of Liverpool and its surrounding metropolitan area is home to 500,000 people. As a port, the area has long received visitors from around the world and has historically attracted a diverse population from a range of backgrounds. Liverpool is home to Britain’s oldest black community and Europe’s oldest Chinese community. It is also noted for its large African-Caribbean, Ghanaian and Somali communities as well as its Welsh and Irish residents. As with many cities, Liverpool is an important cultural centre with a reputation for its culture and the arts.
Team Vision
The vision is to serve the asylum seeker and refugee community in Liverpool by offering community support, teaching language skills, aiding and distributing care packages, and providing art events and workshops. The intention is to make these services and activities accessible to people at all levels of society.

Team Strategy
The team operates in partnership with a local charity focused on serving the asylum seeker, refugee, and local community throughout the central Liverpool area. This charity has been supporting people who are escaping persecution and war zones, and assisting them as they transition into a purpose-filled life in the UK. They offer a variety of services such as: English and cultural classes, skills and art workshops, and support groups which also offer practical help in supplying clothes, toiletries, and food.
