Our teams in East Asia are using education, business, and discipleship training to make disciples and partner with local house churches.
Over 700 people groups live in East Asia. 76% of these people groups are unreached, amounting to 342 million individuals. The primary religions among unreached in this region are Islam, Tibetan Buddhism, and Confucianism.
Our Ministries in East Asia
Our teams in East Asia focus primarily on working alongside house churches developing an indigenous mission movement, discipleship, business as mission, and education as mission. Working with local churches, the team has witnessed great growth in Christian communities in this region, with many indigenous believers eager to be equipped to share the Gospel where it is not known.
One of our teams has established a very successful business selling handcrafts made by local artisans. This business serves to empower local craftsman and provide an environment where people can get to know Christians. Other teams use English teaching for outreach and are working on establishing new small businesses. Many of our teams in this region are multicultural and all teams use English as their team language. All of our teams are looking for new members to join their ministries.
Ways to Serve
Join Our Teams in East Asia
All long-term workers must complete training at one of World Horizons’ training locations before joining a team. Once on the field, new team members spend the first two years of their time on the field focused on language learning. During this time, new team members will also be involved with other ministries established by the long-term team. Whichever country new members join, they will focus from the beginning on befriending other Christians and getting to know non-Christians through the teams’ ministries. It’s very important for new team members to be flexible and to come as learners.
